Acadiana Café Bids Farewell to San Antonio After 38 Years of Service

SAN ANTONIO, TX (July 22, 2024) – With hearts full of gratitude, Acadiana Café has announced its decision to close its doors after serving the San Antonio community since December 1986. In a heartfelt letter shared on their social media accounts, the beloved restaurant informed loyal customers and the local community about the upcoming changes.

Known for its “Good ol’ Cajun style cookin’,” Acadiana Café has had San Antonians coming back for more with their mouth-watering dishes. From catfish to crawfish etouffee, the restaurant has been a staple for nearly four decades, located at 1289 SW Loop 410 in Westlakes Landing. The café has also established yearly traditions, such as deep frying and selling Cajun turkeys for Thanksgiving, which became a beloved part of their community presence.

The Acadiana Café building and property have been sold to the Hacienda Vallarta Restaurant Group, which plans to introduce a Mexican buffet-style service at the location. Despite the new concept, the new owners will continue to offer some of Acadiana Café’s cherished recipes, including their award-winning catfish, chicken and dumplings, Cajun cabbage, and red beans and rice.

Acadiana Café will remain in full operation until Thursday, August 29th, giving patrons one last opportunity to savor their favorite Southern-style dishes. The restaurant will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. until the closing date.

In their message, Dave and the Acadiana Krewe expressed their deep appreciation for the support they have received over the years: “Again, thank you all our loyal customers and the local community that has supported us all these years!!”

The announcement also hinted at a farewell party, with details to be shared soon, ensuring that the community can come together to celebrate the legacy of Acadiana Café one last time.

As the restaurant transitions to new ownership, the spirit of Acadiana Café will live on through its recipes and the memories created over 38 years of service.
