In a non-pandemic related closure, the historic Market Square will be closing off the Farmers Market Plaza only to businesses and visitors beginning on January 2nd.
The closure will last for three months and will only affect that particular building due to scheduled improvements and mold abatement. We’re told that the 50 or so shops inside the Farmers Market will be affected and offered rent abatement for the temporary closure. Tenants affected will be able to take part in a vending opportunity during a “Pop-Up Mercado”.
Mold was discovered during a environmental protocol check that was completed in 2017 as part of a bond improvement project. The mold has no adverse health risk nor it is airborne, according to city officials.
