Final Segment of Loop 1604 North Expansion Breaks Ground in San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO – State and federal transportation officials have officially broken ground on the final segment of the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, marking a major milestone in one of the largest infrastructure investments in the San Antonio region.
The project will complete the connection between Loop 1604 and Interstate 35, helping improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and accommodate the area’s continued population and economic growth.
Officials from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) were joined by Federal Highway Administration Administrator Sean McMaster during the groundbreaking ceremony, celebrating the beginning of the final phase of construction.
The Loop 1604 North Expansion is part of a broader effort to modernize one of San Antonio’s busiest transportation corridors. Once complete, the project is expected to improve mobility, enhance safety and provide more reliable travel for commuters, businesses and freight traffic throughout the region.
The groundbreaking represents another significant step toward completing the two largest transportation investments currently underway in the San Antonio metropolitan area.
