12th Annual San Antonio Book Festival to Showcase 100 Authors

San Antonio, Texas – The literary scene in San Antonio is set to come alive with the eagerly anticipated 12th Annual San Antonio Book Festival (SABF), scheduled for Saturday, April 13th. This free event, held at the Central Library and UTSA Southwest Campus in downtown San Antonio, will feature a diverse lineup of 100 local, regional, and national authors.

Attendees can expect to engage with award-winning and bestselling authors such as Hanif Abdurraqib, Lauren Groff, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, and Becky Albertalli, among others. With sessions running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., guests will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in literary discussions, book signings, and more.

“We’re thrilled to bring together such a talented and diverse group of authors for this year’s festival,” remarked Lilly Gonzalez, Executive Director of the San Antonio Book Festival. “The SABF is not just about celebrating literature, but also fostering a sense of community and sparking conversations that resonate beyond the pages of a book.”

In addition to the main event on April 13th, the SABF will host its Authors in Schools program on Friday, April 12th. Partnering with the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) and Edgewood Independent School District (Edgewood ISD), this initiative aims to promote literacy and inspire young readers by bringing authors directly into classrooms.

Among the authors participating in the Authors in Schools program are Pedro Martin, author of “Mexikid,” and Kazu Kibuishi, creator of the “Waverider” series. Over 1,500 students from underserved, low-income schools across San Antonio are expected to benefit from these engaging presentations, with each student receiving a free, signed copy of the author’s book.

“We believe that fostering a love of reading from an early age is crucial,” noted Anna Dobben, Literary Director of the San Antonio Book Festival. “The Authors in Schools program allows us to connect directly with students and inspire them through the power of storytelling.”
