Dry Dock Seafood Restaurant Closing After 43 Years of Service in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX (May 8, 2025) – After more than four decades of serving up Gulf Coast classics and neighborhood hospitality, Dry Dock Oyster Bar will officially close its doors on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. The beloved ship-shaped seafood spot, located at 8522 Fredericksburg Rd. in the Oaks Shopping Center, has been a San Antonio staple since opening in 1982.
Dry Dock made headlines last year when it unexpectedly closed in February 2024, only to reopen months later under new ownership. While the building and much of the staff remained the same, the restaurant continued to honor its long-standing reputation with fresh seafood and casual charm. However, the new owners have announced that the business will now close permanently to make way for a new dining concept.
In a heartfelt message shared on Dry Dock’s official website, the owners wrote:
“After 43 years of serving you, we are sad to announce that Dry Dock Oyster Bar will be closing its doors for good on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. We extend our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support and patronage over the years… We will be open for regular hours until end of day Monday, 5/12/25 so please come by and hang out with us! We would love to see you.”
While the news marks the end of an era, it’s not all goodbye. Sources say the restaurant will soon be rebranded as Crab City, a seafood boil-style concept. It’s not yet clear if the current menu will carry over, but many of Dry Dock’s existing employees are expected to stay on through the transition.
For longtime patrons and seafood lovers, this final weekend offers one last chance to experience the flavors and memories that made Dry Dock a local favorite for 43 years.
