SAN ANTONIO, TX (May 2025) — This past weekend marked a powerful milestone as Honor Flight San Antonio celebrated 11 years of partnership with Southwest Airlines, continuing their mission of honoring America’s Veterans with a once-in-a-lifetime journey to the nation’s capital.
Aboard this year’s flight were 20 local Veterans, many of whom served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The trip offered a deeply moving opportunity for these heroes to visit national memorials, military museums, and historic landmarks that honor their sacrifice and service to the country.
From the solemn beauty of the World War II Memorial to the reflective wall of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, each stop along the journey offered moments of connection, healing, and remembrance.
“This program is more than a trip—it’s a tribute,” said representatives from Honor Flight San Antonio. “It’s our way of saying thank you and giving these Veterans the recognition they deserve, often decades after their service.”
Southwest Airlines, a longtime supporter of Honor Flight programs across the country, played a pivotal role once again by providing flights and hospitality to ensure a smooth and memorable experience for the participants.
Over the past 11 years, hundreds of Veterans from the San Antonio area have taken part in this meaningful experience, made possible through the support of local volunteers, donors, and flight teams who accompany each group on their journey.
As the “Military City USA” community gathered to welcome the Veterans back home, applause, hugs, and patriotic cheers filled the airport terminal—an emotional reminder of just how much their service continues to mean to the nation.
The honor, as always, is ours.
