Four New Ramps Opening This Weekend on Loop 1604 to Improve Safety and Access

SAN ANTONIO, TX (May 2, 2025) — Drivers along Loop 1604 in north Bexar County can expect easier and safer travel this weekend as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) opens four new ramps as part of its massive $1.4 billion Loop 1604 North Expansion Project.
TxDOT officials announced that the new ramps at Hausman Road, Babcock Road, Vance Jackson Road, and Lockhill Selma Road are set to open beginning Friday, May 2. The upgrades are designed to enhance mobility and reduce congestion along this heavily traveled corridor.
Ramp Opening Schedule
Friday, May 2 (morning):
A new westbound exit ramp to Lockhill Selma Rd. will open, permanently replacing the existing ramp.
A new eastbound entrance ramp from Vance Jackson Rd. will open, while the current entrance ramp from Lockhill Selma Rd. will close.
By 5 a.m. Monday, May 5:
A new entrance ramp from Hausman Rd. will open.
A new exit ramp to Babcock Rd. will open.
The current entrance ramp from Kyle Seale Parkway will close.
TxDOT emphasized that all construction schedules are weather permitting and subject to change. Closures may reopen earlier than scheduled if work is completed ahead of time and deemed safe for public use. Access to businesses along the corridor will remain open during construction.

About the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project
The Loop 1604 North Expansion is part of the Texas Clear Lanes initiative, aimed at transforming 23 miles of Loop 1604 from SH 16 (Bandera Rd.) to I-35 into a modern, high-capacity expressway. The project includes:
Expanding from 4 lanes to 10 mainlanes
Adding HOV lanes in both directions
Constructing a multi-level interchange at I-10
Installing a new intersection design at Blanco Road
Adding pedestrian and bicycle paths along the frontage roads
The project is divided into six segments, with five currently under construction:
Segment 1 (SH 16 to I-10): Expected completion in 2025
Segment 2 (I-10 Interchange): First flyover opened December 2024; full completion by 2027
Segment 3 (I-10 to US 281): Scheduled for early 2026
Segment 4 (US 281 to Redland Rd.): On track for 2027
Segment 5 (Redland Rd. to Judson Rd.): Began spring 2025
