Bohanan’s Prime Steaks & Seafood Honors Centro Ambassadors with Annual National Tourism Week Luncheon

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (May 2, 2025) — In the spirit of National Travel & Tourism Week (May 4-10), Bohanan’s Prime Steaks and Seafood will welcome more than 60 Centro Ambassadors on Tuesday, May 6 for an appreciation luncheon celebrating the men and women who keep downtown San Antonio clean, safe, and visitor-friendly.
The private event, scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Bohanan’s flagship location on historic Houston Street, marks the second year the acclaimed steakhouse has partnered with Centro San Antonio to spotlight the Ambassadors’ day-to-day impact on the city’s visitor economy. Remarks from organizational leaders will begin at noon.
“Downtown’s success relies on thousands of small details, and the Ambassadors handle many of them before most of us even start our day,” said Chef-Owner Mark Bohanan. “Sharing a meal is our way of saying thank you for helping ensure every guest’s first impression of San Antonio is a great one.”
Since 1999, Centro Ambassadors have provided daily litter abatement, pressure-washing, way-finding assistance, and safety patrols throughout the 2.1-square-mile Public Improvement District. Last year alone, the team logged more than 90,000 hospitality interactions and removed nearly 200 tons of trash from downtown streets.
“National Travel & Tourism Week reminds us that every friendly greeting and clean sidewalk influences whether a visitor returns,” said Matt Brown, President and CEO of Centro San Antonio. “Bohanan’s hospitality underscores that our business community values the Ambassadors’ work as much as our visitors do.”
Bohanan’s, celebrated for its Texas-sized cuts of USDA Prime beef, Gulf Coast seafood, and award-winning wine list, has been a culinary cornerstone of Houston Street since 2002. The restaurant’s leadership says the annual luncheon is now a permanent fixture on its calendar, reinforcing a shared mission with Centro to keep downtown vibrant for locals and tourists alike.
National Travel & Tourism Week, created in 1983, highlights the $2.3 trillion U.S. travel industry and the 15 million American jobs it supports. Locally, the sector accounts for an estimated $19 billion in economic impact and more than 150,000 jobs each year, according to Visit San Antonio.
