Both La Cantera Resort & Spa and InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk are hosting Derby-themed events featuring signature cuisine, cocktails, and all the charm of Churchill Downs—right here in the Alamo City.
La Cantera Resort & Spa: A Derby Brunch in the Hills
Perched high above the city, La Cantera Resort & Spa’s award-winning Signature Restaurant, a Michelin Guide recommendation, will serve up Southern elegance with a Texas twist during its Signature Derby Brunch on Sunday, May 4. For $65 per person, guests can enjoy a sophisticated three-course prix-fixe menu, including starters such as Lemon Pinwheel Roll or Berries and Cream, and hearty entrée selections like Pain Perdu, Fried Oysters, or Pork Belly Benedict.
Dessert rounds out the experience with your choice of Tres Leches or a Pecan Bar, and guests 21 and over will be welcomed with a signature Derby-themed cocktail. The brunch also features live entertainment, making it a vibrant way to close out Derby weekend.

InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk: Watch Party with a Southern Twist
Down by the River Walk, the InterContinental San Antonio invites guests to don their Derby best for its first-ever Kentucky Derby Watch Party at Deco Bar on Saturday, May 3, starting at 4:30 PM. The event is set to be an afternoon of Southern sophistication, featuring signature drinks like the Old Forester Mint Julep, Woodford Spire, and Herradura Horseshoe Margarita.
Guests are encouraged to dress in classic Derby fashion—seersucker suits, bow ties, and bright blazers for men, and sun dresses, hats, and fascinators for women. A Best Hat Contest will crown a stylish winner with a $100 gift card to Cavalier, the hotel’s upscale brasserie, announced at 5:30 PM.
The watch party is free to attend, but space is limited. Early reservations come with perks—the first 30 reservations will receive souvenir cups, and complimentary valet parking will be provided for all attendees.
