SAN ANTONIO, TX — March 25, 2025 — Big changes are coming to the far West Side as Kona Grill prepares to open a brand-new standalone location at 5603 Presidio Parkway, the former home of Bar-B-Cutie. According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), the project will cost an estimated $2 million and will include major renovations to both the interior and exterior of the building.

Construction is set to begin on April 28 and is projected to wrap up by August 26, 2025. While no official opening date has been announced yet, the new Kona Grill is already generating buzz—especially with another location still operating nearby at The Shops at La Cantera. As of now, there’s no word on whether that location will remain open or eventually be replaced by the Presidio Parkway site.

Bar-B-Cutie, a longtime barbecue staple at the site, closed its doors in November 2024, leaving a vacancy that’s now being transformed into a modern dining destination.
