SAN ANTONIO, TX — March 26, 2025 — After six flavorful and heartfelt years in business, beloved local barbecue joint 225° Urban Smoke has announced it will be closing its doors for good. The restaurant, located at 1015 Rittiman Rd, Suite 13, San Antonio, TX, will serve its last plate of smoked goodness on April 20, 2025.

Owners Daniel Jimenez and Chef Samuel Ransom Jr. shared the difficult news with their loyal community, citing a breakdown in lease negotiations with a new landlord as the primary reason for the closure.

“We’ve been negotiating with our new landlord for the past year and a half,” they said in a heartfelt statement. “But unfortunately, we couldn’t reach an agreement on a sustainable lease rate. Given the current economic climate and the challenges facing small businesses, the proposed near-doubling of our lease payment simply wasn’t viable.”

Despite the setback, 225° Urban Smoke isn’t disappearing completely. Samuel and Daniel plan to continue their catering services and pop-up events throughout San Antonio, allowing fans to still enjoy their signature dishes—just in a new format.

225° Urban Smoke, located in the heart of San Antonio, is known as a chef-driven smokehouse and barbeque restaurant with a Southern flare. The restaurant earned a loyal following for its high-quality smoked meats, fresh home-cooked sides with a kick, and an upbeat, urban atmosphere that brought family and friends together. From the beginning, Daniel and Chef Samuel set out to create a space that offered the best meat this side of the Mississippi—and they delivered.

Since opening, 225° Urban Smoke has become a neighborhood favorite. From slow-smoked meats and hearty sides to their signature sauces, the restaurant earned a reputation as more than just a place to eat—it became a gathering spot for food lovers across the city.

“We are incredibly grateful for your loyal support over the years,” the owners wrote. “We’ve cherished the memories made and the friendships formed within these walls.”

To commemorate their journey, the team is inviting the community to join them for one final celebration before they close. The farewell event will offer one last chance to enjoy fan-favorite dishes and say goodbye in true Urban Smoke style.

“Let’s go out with a bang!” they added, encouraging patrons to stop by and show their support during their final weeks.

As the restaurant prepares to close its doors, one thing remains clear: the legacy of 225° Urban Smoke will continue to live on in the hearts—and appetites—of the San Antonio community.
